The exception: TDIU (Total Disability Individual Unemployability). TDIU pays 100% rate but requires inability to maintain 'substantially gainful employment.' Earning above poverty threshold (~$15,060/year) may trigger reduction.

Protected TDIU: 20+ consecutive years = protected from reduction even if you work.
