BAH With vs Without Dependents

BAH has two tiers: with dependents and without. No difference between one and five dependents. 'Dependent' = spouse, child under 21 (23 if in school), or dependent parent. With-dependents is typically 15–25% higher.

Dual military couples: only one gets with-dependents BAH if they have children. If no children, both get without-dependents. Getting married immediately switches you to with-dependents rate. Divorce triggers the opposite — potentially $300–$600/month reduction.
